The Board of Trustees of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (DCCP) together with the Executive Organizing Committee had to carefully consider and evaluate the implications of hosting the King’s Day Orange Party especially in a closed environment, due to the ongoing global concern related to the 2019-nCoV outbreak. Furthermore, warnings on health hazards in public spaces such as hotels and travel restrictions have been imposed of late. This measure is to ensure the safety and welfare of all our employees, guests, production crew, artists, caterers and other providers.
We therefore regret to inform you that we will be postponing the King’s Day Orange Party to a later date.
Those who have already purchased a ticket will be contacted and advised to initiate a refund request to ensure all purchased tickets.
We shall keep you informed and provide updated information through our Newsletter and our Chamber’s Office.

On the occassion of the 7th Orange ASEAN Asian Factory in Manila, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines has partnered up with the Netherlands Embassy for an event focussing on Sustainable Supply Chains. Taking place on Tuesday October 22, 8AM to 11AM, this event will welcome DCCP Members to a presentation by the Chains4Change Programme:
In June 2017, the University of the Philippines and the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) of the Erasmus University (Netherlands) initiated an action research project designed to understand the driving forces of inclusive and competitive business models in agricultural value chains. This was a practical off-shoot of the longer-term research collaboration of the two universities on the Escaping the Middle-Income Trap (EMIT) research project. The action research initiative was undertaken in full collaboration with the Jollibee Group Foundation, Unifrutti – Hineleban Foundation, and PinoyME Foundation.
The results of the action research project resulted in how pragmatic interventions and creative approaches emerge as soon as stakeholder partners in the value chain were able to recognize and develop their shared vision to alleviate poverty.
Orange Factory is an intense 3-week sustainability consultancy program for talented young professionals, entrepreneurs and (master) students from the Netherlands and Southeast Asia, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
Supported by experienced consultants, academics and field experts, 20-30 participants work in dedicated teams on business cases for real-life issues from our partners, designing innovative solutions for sustainability challenges in the region. Our partners range from multinational companies to local NGOs and government institutions. Yearly, several Factories are organised at different capital cities in the ASEAN region.

The Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry have teamed up to organize a Caribbean food inspired evening where the French and Dutch community is invited to meet and network in a relaxed setting. On August 28, 18:30PM onwards, you are invited to French-Dutch bistro Louis in Paranaque with the theme of the evening being ”Flavours of St. Martin”.
Served this evening will be:
PLANTEUR'S PUNCH - CREOLE COURT BOUILLON OF FISH - CREOLE PATTIES (FISH & BEEF) - CREOLE VEGETABLES - SWEET POTATO PUDDING WITH HOME MADE VANILLA ICE CREAM - ESPRESSO AND ORANGE-CINNAMON INFUSED RUM ON THE ROCKS
Members: PHP 750
Non-Members: PHP 1,250
A fun fact that is not commonly known is that France and The Netherlands are direct neighbours! They share a physical border right in the Caribbean. Another fun part about St. Martin is the fact that Creole spices have infiltrated French as well as Dutch cuisine. French wines and Dutch beer makes for excellent pairings with many of the fine meals. Infused rums further enhance idea generation. Restaurant chefs of the island combine local traditions and local ingredients with their European “savoir-faire”: a subtle blend of flavours, the “douceurs épicées”, “annatto” spice, the “christophine” or chayote squash, fish, lobsters and shellfish, reflecting the multicultural nature of the island. St. Martin’s food delights the taste buds and dazzles the senses.
Interested? Reserve your seat at the table here.
* Limited seats are available and therefore attendance can only be done upon confirmation of registration. Upon significant demand, participants will be wait-listed and a possible second date will be selected.

On Tuesday, the 28th of November, the Philippine-Netherlands Business Council, in cooperation with the European Chamber of Commerce Philippines and the EU-Philippines Business Network, held a Tax Reform Forum luncheon in Tower Club Makati. Present were PNBC, ECCP and EPBN members, as well as other people curious about the proposed tax reform. The invited speaker for the forum was Assistant Secretary Ma. Teresa Habitan from the Department of Finance, who discussed the different causes, effects, and outcomes of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion, or TRAIN.
TRAIN’s main objective is to make tax collection more effective and have the rich give a bigger contribution while the poor benefit more from the government’s programs and services. The vision of the Department of Finance for the Philippines is to lower the poverty rates over the next few years and eradicate it completely by the year 2040. To do so, the Philippines needs to raise certain investments such as sustainable borrowings, budget reforms, tax and customs administration reforms and reforms in the tax policy. Additionally, the government should also implement economic reforms such as securing property rights, improve food security, enhance competition and simplify regulations. Throughout the forum, Assistant Secretary Habitan went through the different elements of TRAIN, and explained the specific changes being done in each, as well as its impact on those affected. These elements were Personal Income Tax (PIT), Estate and Donor’s Tax, Value-Added Tax (VAT), the Excise Tax on Petroleum Products and Automobiles, and the Tax of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages. She also explained that this tax reform was designed to make the tax system of the Philippines simpler, fairer and more efficient for all.
Nearing the end of her presentation, Assistant Secretary Habitan shared three key messages. The first was that the tax reform, when seen as a package, provides benefits for 99% of the Filipinos. The second was that what’s more important than the tax and its reforms, is how the collected money is spent to benefit poor Filipinos. Her final message was that the tax reform is an investment in our future. Though there are short-termed challenges, this investment benefits everyone in the long-term.
To learn more about the specific policy changes and schedule of the reform, you may visit the Department of Finance’s website: www.dof.gov.ph/taxreform
